Heenan Law Firm Files Class Action Against Credit Life Insurance Company
February 15, 2010
The Heenan Law Firm announced the filing of a statewide class action against American National Insurance Company, a national credit life insurance company, pursuant to the Montana Unfair Trade Practices Act. The complaint alleges the company systematically collects excessive premiums by selling level term credit life insurance policies (as opposed to decreasing term policies) on declining balance consumer loans in violation of Montana law. The lawsuit seeks declaratory judgment against the company to stop the practice as well as damages in the form of excessive premium payments.
